(SMALL GROUP- MIN. 8-MAX 16 PEOPLE)

ITALY
Italy is one of those magical destinations that you could return to again and again and never get bored. Ancient history, charming small towns, world-class food and wine, beautiful architecture, great beaches, and welcoming people — this country has it all. Most first-time visitors naturally stick to popular (and crowded!) destinations like Rome, Venice, Florence, and the Cinque Terre. But you’ll have a much more rewarding trip if you go beyond the big cities and explore some hidden gems in Italy. So if you’re looking to get away from the selfie sticks and tour buses, here are some great places to get off the beaten path in Italy, finest scenic little-known Medieval and Roman hilltowns, Etruscan archeological sites, gorgeous unspoiled nature and unique experiences.

EXPERIENTIAL TOURISM-MEMORABLE EXPERIENCES
Experiential travel means doing anything that falls outside of a standard sightseeing&museum-going itinerary, not only going out off-the-beaten-path (hidden non touristic places and immersion in nature-biodiversity, embracing the great outdoors) but also doing “weird” unique experiences that stimulate the five senses (sight, hearing, touch, smell, and taste), arouse positive emotions (happiness, fun, surprise, joy, contentment, relax…), push your boundaries and encourage you to step outside your comfort zone and try new adrenaline-pumping activities that challenge and excite you.

MEMORABLE EXPERIENCES
Memorable experiences are created by involving a blend of elements that engage the senses, evoke emotions, and leave a lasting impression. For crafting such experiences, we are weaving these 6 elements:

1. Immersive Themes
– Themed Events: Organize events like medieval banquets, masquerade balls, or enchanted forest picnics. Encourage guests to dress accordingly to enhance immersion.
– Storytelling: Incorporate storytelling elements, where performers narrate legends or tales related to the theme, drawing guests into the narrative.

2. Sensory Engagement
– Unique Foods: Serve gourmet dishes that reflect the theme, using rich flavors and visually stunning presentations. Include tastings or cooking demonstrations to engage guests.
– Interactive Activities: Incorporate hands-on experiences like crafting, dancing lessons, or guided tours that invite participation.

3. Atmospheric Elements
– Lighting and Decor: Use candles, fairy lights, or themed decor to create a captivating atmosphere. Consider the ambiance—cozy, elegant, or mysterious—based on the experience.
– Music: Curate playlists or hire live musicians to set the tone. Different styles can evoke various emotions, enhancing the overall experience.

4. Personal Touches
– Customized Invitations: Design invitations that match the theme, creating excitement even before the event begins.
– Keepsakes: Provide guests with unique mementos—handcrafted tokens, personalized notes, or themed party favors that they can take home.

5. Emotional Connections
– Shared Moments: Foster connections among guests through icebreakers, collaborative activities, or storytelling sessions that encourage sharing personal experiences.
– Reflection: Create moments for quiet reflection or group sharing, allowing guests to connect on a deeper level and reflect on their experiences.

6. Surprises and Highlights
– Unexpected Twists: Include surprise performances, hidden activities, or unique guests (like a storyteller or a historical figure) to keep guests engaged and excited.
– Culminating Experiences: Plan a grand finale or highlight that encapsulates the event, such as a spectacular toast, a group dance, or a heartfelt speech.

These experiences resonate with you long after the event has ended, creating cherished memories they’ll hold onto for years to come.

ALL YOUR DAILY ACTIVITIES IN ITALY ARE STRUCTURETED WITH THESE 6 ELEMENTS!

UMBRIA (THE NEW TUSCANY):

THE GREEN HEART OF ITALY

Umbria is famous for Assisian Unesco word heritage site and one of the best preserved medieval town, well known for the Basilica di San Francesco.

The region of Umbria itself could be classified as “off-the-beaten-path” in that it is the only landlocked province in all of Italy. This fact, however, gives it the distinction of being a little more rustic and quaint than its counterparts. There are countless little villages, views and sites that are views that are not mentioned in any of the guidebooks, but that’s all right. You’ll discover them and have them all to yourself.

Rich in biodiversity, with excellent regional cuisine, beautiful walled cities and hilltop towns largely forgotten in time, there is plenty to see and do in Umbria. Umbria is known as the Green Heart of Italy due to its large expanses of forests and fields

Umbria is just as beautiful as Tuscany – in many ways, it is an extension of the same terrain, the same land. But the Umbrians are not nearly as skilled in marketing as their business savvy cousins to the north, so the region is spared the heavy foot traffic of Tuscany and offers great value for sophisticated travelers who want to experience a more nuanced side of Italy.

Because Umbria is less famous than Tuscany, though, there are more of these off-the-beaten-path gems in Umbria. Where Tuscany’s most beautiful towns and rural areas have become famous— and, therefore, more touristy—Umbria’s best offerings remain little-known: really tiny towns that receive no tourism whatsoever, towns that you discover simply by driving around the countryside.

Umbria is cheaper and less crowded

There’s less tourism in Umbria (although the region is getting more popular all the time), so most things, from eating out to staying at a villa or agriturismo/country-house (“farm-stay”) or even at a medieval castle will cost you less than it would at its Tuscan equivalent. In fact, you’ll find a lot of medievalism in your travels around Umbria, much of it defined by stone castles, churches, lovely fountains in the city squares, even in the smaller villages. Umbria produces some great wines, like the world-renowned Sagrantino wines or its DOC-protected Orvieto wines and excellent olive oils (visit wineries and historical old mills “frantoio”).

A medieval city of charm and chocolate: Perugia is a haven for culinary delights, this beautiful city is famous for truffles, prosciutto, pasta, olive oil, sheep milk cheeses — and of course the Perugina chocolate factory “Augusta Perusia” chocolaterie and pastry shop where you can taste local creations (bacio perugina)!

The National Gallery of Umbria is also located here, filled with incredible Renaissance paintings for you to gaze upon. What’s great about Perugia, and the region of Umbria, is that it has much of the same charms as Tuscany but is much less visited.

Lake Trasimeno-the “sea” of Umbria

In Umbria, Lake Trasimeno is Italy’s fourth-largest lake and adds a splash of blue to a landscape awash in green. It’s been inhabited since the Etruscans, and it’s here that Hannibal drove the Romans’ army into the lake in 217 BC, causing their greatest military defeat.

The area was made a regional park in 1995 and is now the habitat of many fish and bird species. There are some medieval towns and 3 islands which are well worth a visit (beautiful views and pleasant beaches where you can sunbathe and relax. Characteristic is the Isola Maggiore which is inhabited by 18 people and still maintains the appearance of the ancient fishing island.

The Trasimeno area is rich in wine trails, all to be tasted and discovered. The Trasimeno Wine Route is an itinerary created to retrace the history of the territory and the food and wine traditions of the area.

On Lake Trasimeno it is also possible to have fun with water sports such as kayaking, windsurfing, SUP (stand-up paddle) or sailing. You can enjoy an exclusive private beach (only for you, no other people!) bathing in the sun, doing some yoga/Pilates classes, taking a massage in the gazebo overlooking the lake, doing mud therapy and having lunch (grilled lake fish and other dishes of the kitchen of the past).

Middle ages banquet lunch/dinner in a medieval castle

Wine tasting and extra virgin olive oil tasting

Tuscany and Umbria (organic wines and olive oils come straight from the winery’s own vineyards and olive trees).

Extra virgin olive oil is made with the hand-picked olives and passed immediately after to the pressing using traditional methods, by mechanical and cold procedure that guarantees full authenticity of the product.

Hot water springs-therme

Outdoor hot sulphourous water springs, known and used for curative purposes since Etruscan and Roman times. Source of youth, beauty, detox and healing. Boost your respiratory tract and your immune defenses, clean your skin.

THE KING INVITES YOU AT THE MEDIEVAL BANQUET AT THE “GHOST” CASTLE

SIGHTSEEING FROM THE TOP OF THE TOWER

MEETING THE ALCHEMIST OF HERBS (all included)

(optional but free of charge:  medieval clothes)

Get on the time machine and immerse yourself in an atmosphere of another time: wearing medieval costumes you will walk in a charming medieval castle with a guide who will tell you about the mysteries of the castle, the customs of memorable times, medicine at the time of the plague, the etiquette at the table, … and then visit the laboratory of the alchemist of herbs that will show you how he prepares his ” healthy elixir ” (which you can then taste)!

What an intriguing atmosphere you’re stepping into! A medieval castle, where time feels frozen, evokes a sense of mystery, history, and grandeur. As you cross the threshold, thick stone walls rise around you, their surfaces worn by centuries yet still imposing. Dim torchlight flickers along the hallways, casting long shadows that dance across the cold, uneven stone floor

The image of climbing a long, spiraling staircase up a tower, only to be rewarded with a breathtaking panoramic view, captures a perfect blend of effort and reward. The climb itself, while exhausting, would add to the anticipation, making the final view even more spectacular.

Standing at the top of the tower, looking out over an expansive forest, you would see a sea of green treetops stretching far into the distance, with rugged mountain peaks rising majestically beyond. The contrast between the dense forest below and the towering mountains in the distance would create a serene and awe-inspiring scene, perfect for anyone who enjoys the beauty of nature.

The grand banquet hall is illuminated by hundreds of flickering candles, their warm glow casting a golden light on intricately woven tapestries and the imposing stone walls. Long wooden tables stretch across the room, adorned with sumptuous feasts that would make any noble heart sing.

IT IS NOT THE POOR’S CANTEEN BUT A ROYAL BANQUET! The tables are decorated with real antiques and the cutlery and glasses are golden! You can also wear the clothes of nobles of the time (damsels, knights… ), including king and queen. Gourmet royal dishes fill the tables: succulent roasted game, glazed with honey and spices; rich stews bubbling with fresh herbs; and an array of artisanal breads, still warm from the oven. Silver platters overflow with vibrant fruits—plums, figs, and pomegranates—while goblets of deep red wine sparkle in the candlelight, beckoning guests to indulge.

As the king takes his seat at the head of the long table, the music begins to play. Lutes, flutes, and drums create a lively, enchanting melody that echoes through the stone walls. The rhythm beckons the guests to the dance floor, where laughter and joy mix with the music. The dance begins—a lively circle where couples twirl and spin, their movements synchronized with the upbeat tempo. Clapping and cheering erupt from onlookers as they watch the dancers move in harmony, their feet shuffling and twirling gracefully across the polished stone.

As laughter and chatter fill the air, the atmosphere is suddenly tinged with a sense of mystery. Whispers of an old legend circulate among the guests: the tale of a ghost who haunts the castle. Once a lady of high birth, she is said to wander these very halls, searching for her lost love, a knight who never returned from battle.

The banquet transforms into an immersive experience, where the past and present collide.

EXPERIENTIAL DAY AT TRASIMENO LAKE:

GUIDED TOUR OF THE “KNIGHTS” CASTLE WITH WINE TASTING

LUXURY GOURMET PICNIC ON THE EXCLUSIVE BEACH (included)

The experience continues, with a luxury picnic on an exclusive beach (only for you!) on the shores of Lake Trasimeno, an oasis of lush marsh vegetation with centuries-old trees to shelter in the shade in the warm hours on deck chairs or hammocks. The vegetation separates this location from the adjacent properties ensuring total privacy!

The menu is rich and plentiful, taken care of by our staff (chef/ nutritionist). In addition, it absolutely does not contain “junk” food but only handmade dishes with healthy and valuable ingredients!  In a nutshell: tasty food, nice to see and healthy! This menu allows the chef to showcase creativity while the nutritionist ensures a focus on health.

But this is an action-packed adventure day:  you can also use a kayak to explore hidden coves or nearby islands or try some yoga poses on your paddleboard for a fun challenge and a great way to enjoy the calm water of the lake.  Or you can just relax enjoying the sunshine!
